Personal:

I've always been more a dancer than a Runner, but i've ALWAYS been into working out and staying active. I ran the 1 mile in track in Highschool ( i think my fastes mile was right around 7 mins.) but never in my life have I ran longer than one mile until 2009. I am a Zumba instructor and I run in the Spring/Summer. I love running but I do not enjoy running on the TM or outside in the cold, so I guess you could say I'm a Fair weather runner.

I am Happily Married to my hottie husband Moses and have 5 cutie kiddos - Moses Jr. (15), Andre (11), Dallas (10), Rhoman (7) and Scotlyn (3) -

4 miles! Aaah yes 4 miles.

On another note - I'm trying to kick my pepsi habit - no pepsi this morning. I'm trying out another energy alterantive - wish me luck! I've tried quitting before and had no energy and got major headaches - hopefully this time will be different.

** PM update -- This drink that I'm trying has 60 mg of caffeine per 8.4 oz. The 12 oz pepsi I have had every morning for the last 10 years has about 28 mg.  And if the caffeine in the Monavie is natural - is the caffeine in the pepsi unnatural? I just upped the caffeine by drinking this. Is one caffeine better than the other?  I thought that the natural energy from the monavie was from fruit/herbs and stuff like that. I definetly want to kick the soda habit for obvious reasons, but whats the harm in daily caffeine intake - seriously! All of you health-conscious runners on this blog - weigh in - I want to know how many of you rely on caffeine for energy. Is caffeine bad for you? I've read some reports that say caffeine may actually be good for women. I'm so confused -- what do you all think?

what is this other energy alternative and where can I get my hands on it?

It took me 15 days to kick the 32 oz of diet coke every morning last August. Headaches virtually every morning. Worth it though. Good luck!

You will probably have to take ibuprofen for a few days to get through the headaches. After I stopped drinking Dr. Pepper everyday, I realized later how different I felt.It sucks to be dependent on something everyday like that. I won't touch Caffeine now. I know what it will do to me, and I know I won't be able to sleep well that night too. You can do it Lyns!

My alternative to Pepsi now is from Mona-vie its called "E". http://www.monavie-emv.com/#/benefits/acai-energy-drink

Moses' friend came over to get his hair cut on Saturday he sales it and gave me some to try he guaranteed me that it would give me energy and I would be able to kick the soda/caffeine habit.

Its now 2:35 PM and I still have energy and NO Headache! I'm impressed so far! Its only day 1 so I'm not jumping on the bandwagon yet - but its all good so far. ☺

Merri and Oreo -- I'll be the guinea pig I'll try it out for awhile and see if it really works. Like I said So far So good! I thought for sure I'd have a headache by now.

Okay so I guess I'm not going cold turkey on the caffeine - just looked into the ingredients in this a little more and there is Green Tea and another natural herb (Guarana)that has some natural caffeine content.

But I am getting rid of the carbonation and High frucotose corn syrup and all the other crap in soda.

Aight... keep us up to speed. If things get dicey - just down a MoNSteR low-carb of course.

Lyn - I kicked caffeine because of a higher than normal reading on my blood pressure. I was getting some additional life insurance that required a medical exam and high blood pressure actually increased my insurance costs!

Anyway - check this link out:

There is a very good argument to have a daily dose of caffeine.

Thanks Lyman! Good link.
